A Love of Africa

When we meet Elizabeth/Guardian in the modern day, she’s a doctor working in Kenya. Later in the novel we learn that (spoiler,) she was married to an African Emperor (Sultan.) Elizabeth the human was married to Tall Tom, the farmer and herder in Cornwall prior to her death in the prologue. After the joining of Elizabeth with the entity, this new being with Elizabeth’s memories, continues the marriage with Tom and continues to be mother to Catherine (who we meet in the prologue as a newborn,) and Matthew, Elizabeth and Tom’s son, from before the joining.

Elizabeth remained with Tom and the children for five years before having to fake her own death and leave them. She remained in England, lurking in the shadows, helping them surreptitiously until time and age eventually took all three of them nearly one hundred years after Catherine was born. It was in her wanderings that Elizabeth first fell in love with Africa and its people.

The first man she loved that she chose, was the king, Musa. Welcomed into his life and the lives of his large family, the love affair with the Africa began. In the years following, Elizabeth has lived about one third of her time on earth in Africa, with many friendships and loves developing in that time.

Perhaps we’ll see more adventures in the future in Africa or perhaps I’ll explore more of her history prior to her ‘superherodom’ in future works.

Stay-tuned, and thanks for looking in!
