I wrote Elizabeth/Guardian to be warm, kind, generous, and helpful. The kind of person you would want as a friend, someone whom you could rely upon when things were tough and also someone whom would your celebrate successes with you.
Elizabeth, until events in the novel, lived a nomadic life, pulling up stakes every two to three years to avoid tipping people off about her true nature. The only one of her kind on the planet (and often in the galaxy at large,) family in a conventional human sense, was beyond her reach. Friends became her family.
She is quite adept at making them—and misses them when she moves on. She has a genuine love of people, and they always have a friend in her.
